My Research Paper

I had locked out myself in the my new rent house and read every details of sources that i found from the internet before i came out with the full draft of my position paper.
An interesting experienced! Actually, we had assigned to do "The Awakening", by Kate Chopin before when taking novels courses with Puan Juridah. But, this time around i found that i learned more from the novel. Well, among the five novels she asked us to read on, i would vote "The Awakening" as the best novel amomg all. I love the way how Kate Chopin revealed the changes within Edna after her awaken and the way she portrayed how the inner feeling of Edna towards the boundaries her society put upon her and how she tried to break the societal constraits at that time.
Furthermore, i chose to use "The Awakening" for my position paper because it is a piece of work that criticized by most of those who read it right after it had been published. In fact, it is rejected by the society because of the ideas of feminism that nobody dare enough to bring out before Chopin. Like Edna, she is a brave woman, a woman ahead of her time to voice out her thought and opinion and i believe that she herself knew that the society would not accept what she was written in the novel, yet she still doing it, just because she is conveying soemthing that is real and happened in the society and nobody dare to change it, only because it is not UNACCEPTABLE at that period.
The courage of her and the awaken of Edna towards the society are the reason that move me to do it for my position paper. Perhaps, because i am woman, like Chopin and Edna, so there is an interest to get to know about the awaken they encountered in their life that made them so brave to deny all the society rules at that time and find their own self.
I still unsure with the five points that i had came out with, anyway, wish that my points are accapetable.
Now, started working (actually, started working on it over and over again for so many times already) for the research paper. I am trying to do "Mala" by K.S Maniam for my research paper, which is unfamiliar but in a way interesting to me. Actually, we had done the text in our second semester with Dr. Quayum, unfortunately, i forgot everything that i learned before:(

Eventually, i found five points for my thesis, which i don't think those points are strong enough to support my thesis. Yet, i haven't present it to Dr. Edwin. Actually, me myself still unsure whether all the five points are suitable for my thesis which title is "Edna's betrayal of her husband signifies her attempt to free herself from her society". Well, planned to see Dr. Edwin today, but heard that he is very busy and tomorrow he will be go away... Well, that's great! Because afraid of my points will be rejected, now i even couldn't consult with Dr. Edwin.
Tomorrow we are going to meet Dr. Ghazali regarding our research, which started to make everyone of us blur! We are not supposed to do lesson plan, but he required us to include tasks and questions in our research. Hopefully, we can get everything clear by tomorrow, as we are running out of time and it really make me headache!
24 hours a day is not enough for me, maybe... i am just not that wise in my time management.
I found an interesting book "Narnia", yet it is too thick and afraid that i won't have enough time to finish reading it before the time:(

Second meeting with Dr. Ghazali

After struggled for whole night, i eventually make up of my mind to choose "Side by Side" for my research paper, a book that was just recommanded by Dr. Jayakaran.
Well, "Anne of Green Gables" is a very good book, but i found it is hard for me to do it for my thesis. First of all, because of the length of the book and secondly, because of my understanding of the whole text and how i am to imply it as a teaching material in literature classroom.
While, "Side by Side" is another interesting book that it actually is a compilation of poetry, songs and prose, furthermore, the texts being used in this book is more relevance to our culture and this might be a strong point to make it as a good tool to engage students in literature.
Now, i am struggling for my position paper, in which i haven't found any strong points yo support the topic. Dr. Edwin said i should be able to find the points easily, but i just found it difficult to do so, for now.

Anne of Green Gables

A collection of children classics that i LOVE most! After days and days thinking about which book i should use for my research, at last "Anne of Green Gables" came into my mind. I was very much fond with the character Anne in this novel and the way the author brought me as a reader into the world of Anne.
My first encounter with this novel was through a movie, which i watched during my standard four and i still remembered that i took down everything in the movie the next day in school. I was so affected with Anne's character and of what she encountered in her life that eadge me not to miss even a single thing in the movie. For years and years, i was searching for someone that ever watched this movie, untill i get the chances to do literature, only then i get to know that it is a serial of children classics and it is more than a movie, it is masterpiece!!! I believe that everyone who ever watch the movie or reading the books will agree with me that we all wish to been through what Anne came through in this novel and it is like a dream for every child to stay in a place like that, to have friends like Diana Barry and to have such a pure heart like Anne, who wants to know everything and have such a wonderful wild imagination. It is something that far, far away from us as we grow up...
BUT... what can i do with this novel to get it to imply in our education?
The haze, tommorrow exam paper and this research, except from my finding of "Anne of Green Gables" :) are making me crazy!!!

Meeting with Dr. Ghazali

We met Dr. Ghazali as a group last Wednesday after class on 11am.
I was careless that i didn't read the exact requirement of the research that we are going to carry out with Dr. Ghazali and i had misinterpret the requirement as well, as i had neglected the need to imply our research into Malaysia education. Or perhaps i had messed up everything with thesis.
Well, of course Dr. Ghazali bent my topic for the research as i was not emphasised on how to text can be used to imply in our education...
So sad...
I had stay for the whole night to just think about the topic for the research, furthermore that was the first day i moved into my new house at Seri Serdang. What are tiring day and disppointed moment...
